My Favorite Acne-Friendly Products of 2017

2017 was a year where I feel like I started to get more in control of my adult cystic acne. I experienced less breakouts and I noticed a positive change in the appearance of my scars (for once!). 2017 may have been a sh*tty year in current events but for my skin it was ahhh-mazing. I think for a few of reasons…

  • I started investing more in quality skincare products. For instance, skincare products from higher quality brands than the brands you see at Walgreens.
  • I drank a TON of water which is so good for getting rid of toxins and keeping skin hydrated.
  • I started using toner.
  • I started exfoliating regularly with an electric Sonic facial brush.
  • I discovered the benefits of Korean skincare products. You can read more about some of the benefits here.

My Favorite Acne-Friendly Skincare Products of 2017

Dr. Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Dark Spot Correcting Serum

I started using this in 2015 but every year it gets a spot in my yearly favorites. I use this every morning under my moisturizer and after having used it regularly it’s helped my acne scars almost disappear!

Atoclassic Soothing Origin Essence

I started using this in the fall and I am wondering how I didn’t discover it sooner. I apply this after toning and before my evening moisturizer. It helps calm inflammation and reduce the appearance of my acne scars. This and the Dr. Weil serum (above) made an appearance in this round-up too.

Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Toner

You may already know that I LOVE this toner. I use this at least twice a day. I apply it after cleansing my skin and any time I need a refresh when I am not wearing makeup. For instance, when I wake up before heading to the gym, I’ll swipe this over my face and eyes to help wake me up and get rid of the gunk that piled on during the night. It’s incredibly soothing and cleansing. I’m obsessed.

Mizon Black Snail All-In-One Cream

You guys, I am a total convert to snail skincare products now! I have Korean beauty to thank for that. I started using this in the fall and after two months my acne breakouts were less common, my scars started to level-out and my skin appeared more glowy (even during the dry winter). It’s been a real game-changer in my skincare routine.

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask

Doing face masks is one of my favorite ways to relax and this particular face mask is a regular in my schedule. I strive to do one face mask a week. I love the way this mask feels and my face is always left feeling soft and refreshed. The African black soap draws out dirt and absorbs excess oil. This is a great mask for acne-prone people like myself!

I hope this list inspires you to try some of my favorite products. What are some of your faves?

Thanks for following me on this blog and I look forward to sharing more of my adult acne experience, beauty tips, products and lifestyle choices in the new year.

Happy New Year!
